About the National Performance Centre

The National Performance Centre was founded by Skate Canada in 2014 with the mandate to support Skate Canada coaches and skaters along their path to personal excellence. These unique centres will play an integral role in supporting Skate Canada’s long-term strategy for developing athletes. The "in-house" and "out-reach" development programs, seminars, workshops, and research studies will help ensure Canada remains on the forefront of the world stage for skating excellence.

Monica Lockie, Director

As director of the National Performance Centre, Monica Lockie oversees all NPC program development and delivery, plus the operations at all current and future national centre locations. Monica’s passion for coaches and the coaching profession is well known throughout the Skate Canada association. Prior to her role as director at the NPC, Monica was Coach Representative on the Skate Canada Board of Directors, a tireless coaching advocate, and a highly respected coach in her own right. Monica’s invaluable experience ranges across the entire athlete pathway, from first skating steps to representing Canada internationally.
